How Online Education Can Improve Kids Learning

The way that we approach education is changing. The internet has changed everything and the internet now plays an important role in the way that we educate children of all ages.

With the computer playing a larger role in the classroom and in society, more and more children are starting to use online educational tools at a younger age as part of their learning experience. It is amazing how quickly children can not only pick up the skills necessary to use the internet and online learning tools, but also the lessons they learn from the educational tools itself.
Technology is only going to continue to expand and become a more important part of people's lives and online education will help children not only with their education, but also how to effectively use technology. There are many different ways that online education can improve kids learning experience.

Here are some of the most important benefits: • Appropriate pacing: These educational tools allow students to work through lessons and learn at their own pace.

They don't have to worry about keeping up other in the class and can focus on their own personal learning.

• Accessibility: The beauty of online education is that kids can access learn tools from everywhere.
They can use them in the classroom, at the library, and at home as long as they have an internet connection.
Additionally, the cost of online learning tools is affordable and more widely available as you only need to go online to gain access.

• Flexibility: Internet based educational tools are designed to be flexible. They allow students to come back to previous lessons, dive in and out of content, and it allows them to save their work quickly and easily. • Less intimidating: Learning in a classroom setting can be intimidating. This is one of the main reasons that many kids do not participate as much as they would like. These educational tools eliminate the intimidating factor.

• Increased levels of engagement: internet educational tools increased a child's level of engagement with the material though the use of interactive graphics, videos and other media. • They learn how to use technology: Part of the educational process that is often forgotten when it comes to online learning is that the kids that use the programs will also be learning how to use technology as they interact with the learning tool. Understanding how to effectively use technology is a skill that all children will need as they further their education and enter the workforce.
• They supplement children's education: Online education helps to supplement your children's current education.
Whether they are having trouble with math, reading, science or just need to approach learning in a new ways, these tools are designed to help. Online education is only going to continue to become a more important part of our education system. We are seeing this in the way universities and high schools are changing. Online educational tools will prepare your children for further education and help them enhance their overall learning experience.

Computer Evolution

People have been processing data and information in some form since prehistoric times.
However, it was the development to the computer that recently revolutionized information processing.
Since the first generation of computers were built, the subsequent three computer generations have produced smaller, more powerful, and less expensive machines - mostly as the result of the development of the integrated circuit.
Prehistoric cave dwellers painted pictures on the walls of their caves, and ancient Egyptians wrote on a crude form of paper called papyrus.
Around 3000 B.
C., the Sumerians created a device for representing numbers that consisted of a box containing stones.

About 2000 years later, in 1000 B.
C.

, the Chinese took that idea one step further when they strung stones on threads in a wooden frame.
The Chinese device was named after their word for box, baccus. The abacus, as we know it, remains in wide use and is still considered a powerful tool for performing mathematical computations.
In the year 1946, the first large-scale electronic computer, the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC), became operational.
It contained approximately 18,000 electronic vacuum tubes - the size of light bulbs - the controlled the flow of electric current.

We've passed through four generations technology of computer.
First, the punched cards and magnetic tape were use for input and output media.

Second, transistors and some other solid-state devices came out that were much smaller were used in the computer circuitry. Third, the usage of integrated circuit - a complete electronic circuit that packages transistors and other electronic components on a small silicon chip - replaced traditional transistorized circuitry.

Lastly, circuits were developed that contained hundreds to millions of transistors on a tiny chip.
During this time, computers main memory capacity increased, which directly affected the types and usefulness of software that could be used.
Just boot your operating system and your computer will load.
The equivalent term for "boot" is "initial program load" (IPL) and for "reboot" is "re-IPL.

The net effect of the tremendous increase in processing power provided by the computer is the more date can be processed faster than ever before.
This means that all the information you need to make decisions is quickly available. The power of the computer has grown so much that it can often generate more information than people can effectively deal with at one time. Indeed, in this society, knowledge is the primary resource for individuals and for the economy overall. As a result, we must be selective about the type of date and information we process.

CCTV Camera System - Important Information You Need Before Buying

What are CCTV cameras? CCTV is the abbreviation for Closed Circuit Television. CCTV cameras are used to monitor a particular area where they are installed. Modern CCTV systems are composed of several parts that are used simultaneously to achieve proper monitoring and detection. These parts are the DVR, cameras, hard disk drive, cables, monitor and power supply.
The DVR and its Functions DVR or the Digital Video Recorder plays a very important in the whole CCTV camera system. In layman's terms, it is the heart of the CCTV system.

This is where you record, play back and control your cameras. The DVR comes in different types but has almost the same functions.
Full D1 When you hear the word full D1, it means that the DVR has the highest resolution that any other CCTV system has to offer. Combine this with high specs CCTV cameras and you'll have the best CCTV system of all. Full D1 DVRs are commonly used for industrial purposes that practices tight security and settings wherein facial identification is vital. The problem with this DVR is that it costs a lot higher than other types of DVRs but with very minimal difference in picture with its counterparts. Half D1 Half CIF For small businesses or for not-so-strict environment, Half D1 is acceptable.
This is the most commonly used DVRs today since they are extremely affordable but offer high quality pictures. When you say half D1 that means that only half of the numbers of cameras installed in the DVR can reach its maximum resolution (480x320p), while the other half can only manage to provide (360x280p). The reason why many people opt for this type is because it also produces high quality images but does not come with hefty price tag. Full CIF CIF is another type of DVR.

This type produces the lowest quality of all, though to some people it is already acceptable. Full CIF DVRs produce 360x280p resolution in all cameras installed.

Some people might not even notice the difference between these types of DVRs but to those who have background knowledge with CCTVs or those who have very clear eyesight, this type is not good. They do not produce high quality pictures, which makes them the cheapest and the most rarely used DVRs of all. Full CIF DVRs are the oldest model of DVR. DVR and its Features Modern types of Digital Video Recorder process the lowest video compression possible, the H.

264.
This is why recordings and play back may now be extended to months instead of days.

You can now also connect it to the internet, so that you can access your cameras remotely or from another location using your computer or your mobile phones.

These features make it easier to some people to run their businesses even without actually being there.
There are other more sophisticated features that CCTV camera has to offer like motion detection, video loss alarm, power loss alarm, manual and scheduled recording and other more entries that alleviate your protection and your personal security.

Life Experience Degrees: Let the Buyers Beware

Colleges and Universities are now offering Degree Programs and grant you a qualification based on your life experience.

And the best thing is you do not have to attend a single class or pass an entrance examination. All they ask for filled up an application with a verifiable and detailed list of your life experience for their evaluation. If you pass their minimum requirements for the degree that you seek, pay the required fees and..
voila!..

you have your diploma within days.
Sounds too good to be true? Why should you buy an online degree? Universal online degrees are fast, flexible and convenient. Buying an online degree is easier than most people believe.

It will save you a lot of time, money and effort.
Sometimes, the college degree that you desire is not offered in your local school and earning it from a far away traditional university will greatly disrupt your time and finances. Many educated people will tell you that they do not recall much of what they have studied in school. Most of the learning came from experience. Your job will educate you more than any university can. The problem is, all these learning are not recognized in any proper way.
A life experience degree is an acknowledgment of these learning achievements.

You can earn your degree complete with a diploma with the granting institution's legal verification and official seal, a copy of the school's legal accreditation, transcript and other essential documents. If your work requires a special skill but offers no formal recognition for that special skill, then you ought to have one. If the other applicants for a job have the same experience PLUS a life experience degree, that is another reason. Nevertheless, if you only want recognition for your achievements or if you already feel confident that your abilities and talents are enough to set you on your desired career, and then a life experience degree is most likely just a waste of money.
A popular Chinese proverb says: Choose a job you like and you do not have to work for the rest of your life. An online degree is a better alternative to choosing a degree just because it is the only viable course being offered by a local college.
An online degree lets you advance more on the path that you know much about have learned to love.
Before buying an online degree however, you should make sure that the organization is recognized and accredited. Some bogus outfits have already damaged the reputation of online degree programs and will even go the trouble of creating their own board to get their accreditation.
Earn your degrees from reputable institutions offering life experience degrees. Beware of institutions that ask only for an outline of your employment and your credit card details.

You could be receiving nothing but a costly piece of paper.

Things to Know Before Building Your Home Theatre

So you have decided to invest in your own home theatre to go in that extra space you are not using.

Well, before embarking on this big project, you need to make sure whether or not this is a project you can tackle on your own or not.

Some things you will be able to handle on your own but in other aspects you need to be able to know when to ask for help. Here are a few things to know before starting on this project and getting stuck.

Room Space First things first, decide on the room that the home theatre is going to go in.

Make sure that in the room you select that you have ample space especially if you are planning on putting a projector up.
If you are going to be using a projector in this room, you are going to want at least 15 feet in between the projector and the wall. This is to ensure the utmost clarity in the screen.
Putting the projector too close to the wall will result in a blurry screen that nobody will enjoy watching.

Wiring Installation The next thing to know is that installation of the wiring is not a breeze.
You need to decide if you are capable or not of routing the entire thing together or not.
There are two types of problems with installation.
If you are going to get a surround sound system and wire it through the walls, you may want to consult someone to com do it for you unless you are an electrician. Digging into the walls can be risky and sometimes it may be right to contact the professionals.

You don't want the wife coming home and seeing three holes in the wall where you tried to install a television or speakers. Next, you don't want to risk losing out on the quality of sound because you didn't set up the wires correctly.
The worst thing that can happen with all these wires is either little to no sound or even worse, sound that isn't synced.

If the sound isn't synced, this means you will see mouths moving before you hear the words they are actually saying.

This can make for extremely confusing television or movies.
Home theatre installation does have some things you can save money on and do yourself but be sure to know your limits before you start opening up the walls yourself.

Good luck and let us know any other things you think it is good to know before getting to work.

Windows 8 Portable Workspace

Windows 8 rumors have been floating around for some time and last two weeks many Windows fans were attracted to Windows 8 Portable Workspace. It is one of the most interesting Windows 8 features we have seen thus far for it would allow you to take your Windows 8 desktop with you on a USB thumb drive.
In fact, it isn't a completely new concept, there's already a whole rake of portable apps that you can run straight from a USB key. Similar to the Linux-on-a-stick solutions already offered, Portable Workspace will allow Windows 8 Enterprise customers to load a bootable image of Windows 8 onto a USB that is at least 16GB in size. It's very easy to carry around a bootable copy of Linux OS on a USB drive or even a CD and run it on any computer.

Microsoft has made great efforts on Windows 8 tablets as well as improving its portability.

With Windows 8 portable workspace, it would solve many compatibility problems that may exist when one tries to utilize an application originally designed for a previous version of Windows, such as Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.

In addition, they've already confirmed that Windows 8 will support ARM and x86 processors and there seems to be better touch support.

At present, no further detailed information about windows 8 were given and let's looking forwards to its new features together.

Recently, windows 8 have discovered a new feature calls Hybrid Boot. It bases the hibernation and only works in core operating system files.
The Hybrid Boot can speed up the boot of the operating system and do not need the privacy implications.
Hybrid Boot can save the contents of the RAM to the hard drive to accelerate the next start of the operating system and start working where you left instead of shutdown the operating system.
Hibernation is different from sleep mode.

Sleep mode is a low power mode for electronic devices.

It save significant electrical consumption compared to leaving a device fully on and idle but allow the user to avoid having to reset programming codes or wait for a machine to reboot.
(Wikipedia) Hybrid Boot can auto start if you press the shutdown button of the start menu. According to Windows 8 news, Hybrid Boot can save 20 seconds of startup time on system and the data saved for a faster start. If Microsoft really put this new feature into Windows 8 operating system it will bring a big benefit of reduce boot time to the Windows 8 users. But maybe it is not good to Multi-boot computer users, because the boot manager of Hybrid Boot is not displayed if Windows 8 was shut down with Hybrid Boot enabled.
So the Hybrid Boot can be disabled in the Control Panel under Power Options in Windows 8.

If you want to build a strong career, consider these tips. Add Up Your Strengths: All accountants like numbers, but there's probably something even more specific you enjoyed about your online accounting classes.

Do you love assisting in the budgeting process? Get so excited about tax law that April 15 feels like a holiday? Can't get enough of watching the stock market ebb and flow? Well, those are small traits that make you stand out from a crowd.
A successful job search depends on you assessing your strong points and being able to explain them.
If I asked you right now, "So, what do you do?" would you have an interesting, 30-second response? If not, read on.
Prepare your Quick Pitch: We've all been there.
A potential boss, new client or professional acquaintance asks you what you do.

And, they aren't talking about your knitting hobby! This is the time to have an elevator pitch ready; a short blurb that you can memorize and say on demand.
It should be about five sentences long.

This is your chance to tell your story, like how you started in your online accounting training and what drew you to the field.

Weave in key facts like your current employer and your future career dreams for a perfect pitch.

Beef Up your LinkedIn Profile: The key ingredient to making a perfect LinkedIn profile is lots of information.

LinkedIn is like Facebook for professionals. This is a way for you to share your elevator pitch in an online format, while connecting with people you know, and people you hope to meet.
You should detail your current job and what you do, your work history and where you went to school.

Online forums are an easy way to make connections and build up your expertise.

It could even be a site where you advertise your services - giving you an opportunity to do taxes or financial analyzing on the side or even one day to open your own firm.
Meet your Fellow Accountants: Joining a professional group can put your foot in the door to many opportunities.

Organizations range from general accounting networks to enthusiasts about whatever type of accounting you like. This can be your chance to practice your elevator speech outside of a job interview and meet new professional connections.

Keeping in touch with your fellow online accounting school graduates can also loop you in to current open positions and the top companies in your industry.

Personalized Books - The Perfect Gift

Just take a look around your child's bedroom and see what toys he has.
Some of us have overdone things in the high tech department.

Others have overdone it in the DVD department.
And still others have amassed an incredible amount of dolls, cars, Pokemon cards and other toys that all, although once played with, are now a jumbled mess in the bottom of a toy box.

What is it that children really want? Well I can tell you.

In fact you already know it.

It is time.

Your time.

Time spent with your attention on them, preferably with them next to you or even better, sitting on your lap.

And what is the one thing that can bring parents and children together in this way? You've guessed it.
..
books! Recently I have come across personalized books.

It is a fantastic concept. The child gets to be the hero in the story of your choice.
They could be a princess in a fairy tale, a pirate in a swashbuckling adventure or even an animal in a zoo. Just imagine the excitement when the child sees their own name in the book.
Many books also allow parents and siblings names and some also allow their home town.

Talk about engaging the child! I started to think about all the benefits that a book like this would bring.
Being a home-school mom, my immediate thought was "is it educational?"! Some people go the fun route, I go the educational route with some fun thrown in as well.
Personalized books grab the child's attention from the word go.

Because the book is about them, they are more likely to sit still and listen.

They are more likely to concentrate for a time and participate in the story too. You can talk to them about the story afterwards. What actually happened in the story? Which was the most exciting part? How many animals did you notice? How many coins were there in the treasure box? And the list goes on.

Getting the child to narrate stories back to you really helps with the child's ability to order their thoughts and articulate them clearly.

It is an excellent practice to engage in. Then you could ask the child to point out their own name on the pages.

It is a great way to get interest in early readers. They are much more likely to want to read a book that is about themselves than most other topics.

Some personalized books actually will take the letters of the child's name and make up their name as part of the story; again a great way to learn their letters. They don't even realize they are learning! Another way I thought they could be used was in copywriting.
Many kids balk at practicing their letters (especially boys in my experience!).
Copying from a book written about themselves is much more likely to keep their attention.
I think personalized books are a brilliant concept.
Many of these personalized book businesses have been started by parents who have done it for their children and have gone on to make them available to a wider audience.
Well done and thank you to those who have made these books such a potential treasure in our lives.

Why Kids Bully?

Why kids bully? Bullying happens for many reasons but why kids bully comes down to one basic reason.

When a person bullies someone else they are doing it because they do not feel good about themselves and putting others down makes them feel better.
The reason why kids bully is that it is the fastest and easiest way to feel important.

Bullying is a coping mechanism Bullies are not bad people; they use bullying as a means of dealing with their problems.

When someone does not feel good about themselves and do not have a positive way of improving their self worth they turn to destructive behaviors.

They put others down through words or violence in an attempt to seem powerful and deal with their inner pain.

Bullies are misunderstood people with the potential for greatness.
When some people go through challenging times they have no idea how to deal with it.
Some turn to rebellion, some turn to conformity, and some turn to bullying.
If we can help them through their hard times we can help them reach their true potential.
The Bully Cycle As stated above, people bully others in attempt to feel better about themselves.

They put others down because they want to feel powerful and important.

The victims then feel bad about themselves. In order to make up for their wounded self-esteem they turn to bullying.

Now the bullied has become the bully and we see a downward cycle that I call the bully cycle. Most bullies have been or are currently victims of bullying and feel that it is unfair that they are/were mistreated so they take it out on others. How can we help? Every person is born believing in them self but somewhere along the way that belief is stamped out.
If we want to help a teen deal with bullying or stop bullying others we need to help them realize how valuable and important they really are.
After all every person is completely unique from the rest and has something special to offer. Help the youth you care about realize how valuable they are and that they are important already.
In order for a kid to stop bullying others they need to realize that they are already important and do not need to put others down to elevate themselves.
Conclusion The reason why kids bully is that they do not see themselves as valuable or important so they take it out on others in an attempt to elevate themselves.
If anyone wants to stop bullying they need to first understand why kids bully others and then work at improving their feeling of importance in positive ways.

Having Fun Outdoors With Your Children

In this day and age all it can take is a rainy day or a blistering hot sun to keep us inside.

The real challenge comes however when children are involved.
As a mother of two I can tell you first hand that when it comes to children, outdoor activities are the best way to turn a miserable day into a fun one.
Fortunately, there are many things that can be done outdoors with children.

I will cover the following areas in order to help inform you: the beach, the park and the playground.

The beach is an awesome sight for children to see, the endless stretch of water seems to expand their imagination to the point of excitement.

While the sand is takes the backyard sand pit to the extreme side of fun.

Being able to make sand castles just to knock it down again is all great fun.

All together the beach has within it an infinite and countless number of activities for children.

The biggest benefit to you is that all that restricts these activities is the child's mind. The park is another alternate universe for our children to find and endless stream of activities that are fun.
Being back to nature with trees and fields of grass can meld a good day into a great one.
Fun activities can stem from sports games to hide and seek. To encourage even more activity out of my children I find bringing the family dog to add to the experience. Playing fetch or chase can really alter the dynamic of the excitement involved when children play at the park. Most of all the fun they have when their homely pet finally drops the ball and waits for it to be thrown again. It cannot bring any more joy then to watch how much fun the park is.

The playground is where urban environment meets the artistic creativity of a child's mind.

With spiderlike structures, fantasy going urban vessels or dizzying apparatus all lead to one word to be felt by all. That is the word fun! Let us not forget the classic playground activities of the swing set or the slippery dip. These activities may be as old as the concept of fun itself but if they worked for children one hundred years ago they must work today. There are many fun activities to be had with children outdoors, the real fun comes from understanding that it is the imagination and expression that occurs that allow us all to have our best times.

Choosing The Right Cloud Computing Providers

Cloud computing providers are one of the fastest growing market segments in technology today.
They are service providers that offer cloud computing services of various types. Small and medium businesses are benefit a lot from these services, if they know what and how to pick the right solution.

These services are categorised into three types: software as a service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
Among these the SaaS and IaaS are the older and more popular versions.
PaaS is technically superior solution, if one knows how to exploit it. The SaaS kind of services are mainly software solutions that are stored, executed and operated in these networks. Thus, the employees just need a way to access software online; they do not need that software installed on their computers. These services are great if the software itself serves your business goals aptly.
The IaaS is just infrastructure like a specific model of server, or network or storage system which is leased in the cloud.
If your company wants to maintain loads of data or wants to build a custom designed solution that serves a specific purpose, Infrastructure as a Service is a great option. Rather than investing in huge infrastructure, leasing it is more economical. The PaaS concept is slightly complex as it works at the platform level. With Infrastructure as a Service, you need to take care of upgrades, and other such issues.

So every time the system is updated, you may need to tweak the solution. With PaaS, the system upgrades are made transparent to the customer.
In conclusion, to get the most of the cloud computing service, the business must know its requirements well.
If one is looking for a readymade solution, SaaS is a great alternative.

If one needs to build the solution from ground up; IaaS is preferable.
However, given a choice, business can opt for PaaS solutions over IaaS ones for lower ownership and hurdles in solution deployment and maintenance.

What Is Online Learning?

Today online learning, also called as e-learning, is a new form of education.

It is a distance learning education system where the revolutionary Internet technology is used to facilitate teacher to educate the interested students.
They manage student-teacher interactions and deliver course materials online. The students don't need to travel for their education; only logging on to their system gives them enough reasons to study. It sounds great and that's why most of the students who can't opt for regular courses choose online college education. Online degree courses are designed with the sole aim of providing good education to the candidates. The method of providing education online is a well structured and highly professional system which is delivered through the new age devices.

With that, the students also get text content and live lectures, which are designed keeping the course curriculum in mind. Online learning is an interesting way of education and to make it more appealing to the students; the educationists try to bring new methods from time to time.
Delivery methods for online courses may vary from college to college and of course depending on the type of degree programs.
But one thing is definitely common in all the online degree programs - The online colleges employ a form of Internet technology for delivering instructional course materials. Methods adopted by the institutions can be synchronous or asynchronous.
One which is more easily adaptable is the asynchronous method; the reason is the flexibility it offers. In synchronous delivery method, there is a need of real time interaction between the learners and teachers, which is not at all required in asynchronous method.

In asynchronous method, the students are free to take their course work at their convenience, without any need to come for real time lectures.

Depending on your need, you can choose the type of online degree program. Remember one thing - You have to choose a reliable university with proper affiliation. There are many fake education institutions world over who are working with the sole purpose of making people through wrong means.

The Concept Behind A Balance Bike

What is a balance bike? What do they do? Who even buys them? These are all valid questions and ones that will be answered in due course.

The balance bike is becoming a lot more popular today simply because they are better than standard bikes with training wheel/stabilisers. The concept behind them is totally different and we will give a little background info on the advantages of buying your child one of these bikes. What makes a balance bike different from a normal bicycle? The simple fact of the matter is that a balance bike is a normal bicycle that has no pedals. Yes, that's right.

.
. no pedals.

No extra clutter. All it has are two large wheels and footrests (at least the good ones do, you'll find people selling ones without footrests and that is a big no-no).

This has the effect of teaching a child to balance much better and much faster than with a traditional bicycle.
What are the advantages of a balance bike? The advantages you ask? Well that's simply that the child learns to control a bike, balance on a bike before they ever have to think about pedals. This makes their first normal bike ride a pleasure, as they already have an instinctive understanding of how to balance and control a bike. It also helps long term by working on their co-ordination.

Yet another advantage is that it helps boost self-confidence.
A child who has problems using a normal stablisers bike will have very little difficulty with this type of bike and this can help raise their self-esteem..

. and you can;t really put a price on that. What type of balance bike should I look for? There are many types of balance bike on the market at this point in time.

Wooden ones, steel ones, those with footrests and those without (bad idea).

Most people generally recommend a a bike made from steel as they last longer and can be reused to help all your children have fun on a bike earlier than they could with a stabilisers bike.
The ones without footrests are both uncomfortable for the children and pose a hazard when they are riding.
They need to tuck in their legs and without footrests, there is a chance that their feet will catch the ground and make them slip and fall. While there is some choice in materials - never buy one of these types of bikes without ensuring that it has footrests.

The fact is that these bikes are the way of the future and are quickly becoming ever more common on playgrounds around the world.
Let your child join the fun and buy them a balance bike.

But when stating the problem, just state facts, not emotion. This will assist to clarify the actual problem and allow you and also the teacher to discover a resolution more quickly.

I suppose if you've to sum it up, put your self in the instructor shoes.
Deal with them the way you would want to be treated.

Take a few minutes and think of all the teacher does for your son or daughter every day.

Appreciate your children's teacher and all that they do

Tesla Secret - Can You Really Obtain Free Electricity?

If you know anything about inventors throughout history, you might have heard of Nikola Tesla.

An immigrant to the U.

S.
, he quickly became known as a pacesetter, especially when it came to electrical devices.

He totally changed the design of electrical generators and developed the famous Tesla Coil, which may be observed in vintage horror movies throwing big electrical sparks across the room.

A new book referred to as Tesla Secret claims to provide plans to make a product known as a Tesla Generator. The designs for this gadget, according to the writers of the book, have for ages been covered up by the electrical power companies throughout the world, as the Tesla Generator will allow the user to acquire free electricity that passes through the solar system.
The generator, a mix of a Tesla Coil and an antenna, can gather the energy and allow the user to pipe it into their home, effectively eliminating their dependence on any electricity whatsoever from the community utility company.
Furthermore, the book says the construction of the device is inexpensive and so uncomplicated that anybody "who can screw in a light bulb" can build it.

Is the Tesla Secret legitimate? Or is it some sort of con? Tesla's inventions are indeed working products, and he did build such a device during his life.

He had sophisticated plans for creating an electric transmission network that worked without any wires whatsoever, simply transmitting power through the air like radio waves. The plans contained in the Tesla Secret book are taken from actual patent applications that Tesla presented personally to the U.
S. Patent Office.

Because of this, they are correct for assembling the product.

Sadly, the plans are relatively elaborate, and if you do not have good ability to manufacture metal parts by using a professional lathe, good working comprehension of high voltage electricity and the ability to read between the lines and fill in the gaps in the guide, you are going to have a substantial amount of trouble making the plans in the e-book meet your needs.
While the drawings are accurate, there's very little else within the guide when it comes to step-by-step guidance and no information at all regarding how to incorporate the devices into your existing power system.
Even though it is theoretically feasible for anyone to take advantage of these plans to generate power for their personal use, the book demands expertise and experience that are far above that of the average buyer.

As experiments, they may be interesting, but they have little realistic use. You can find, however, a few other products in the marketplace that do offer helpful instructions for producing real, useful electrical energy in your house that really can be used to not only supply working power for home appliances, but to generate enough power to actually induce your meter to operate backwards, effectively lowering your utility bill.

Not only that, but these various other solutions can be built by the typical consumer for fairly small sums of money.

If you are looking for environmentally friendly or alternative electrical power, there are options available that may help you produce cost-effective electrical power.
Regrettably, the Tesla Secret is not one of these answers.

True Or False - Even The Best Online Guitar Lessons Can't Replace A Good Offline Teacher.

Tradition tells us that we should learn with a one on one experience in a closed room or "studio".
There is no doubt, a closeness between teacher and student when in the same room.

This can be in itself good or bad.
There is also the dynamics of vocal inflection and facial detail that you can't get on Skype. Still, who needs those details when you are just learning guitar chords for beginners or how to strum a guitar? All basic skills taught on any instrument through a standard or live video call can be as effective if not more effective than the traditional at home/studio lesson.

Looking at the fundamentals of music, we approach three basic subjects: Rhythm, melody, and harmony.

These are not the only musical fundamentals, but they will suit our momentary purpose.

1. Rhythm All music starts with rhythm with some exceptions, post John Cage inclusive. Even with "nonrhythmic" concepts, video still holds up against studio teaching.
A beat is a beat is a beat. No matter if you clap it, drum it, slap it, or hum it, a beat is a pulse that is easily identifiable with repetition.
This is not something that requires proximity of closeness. One does not even need the visual aspect.

Rhythm taught over the phone without the aid of watching it performed, is even more direct because there is no visual distraction.

It is pure rhythm, as you would hear on a recording. We never needed any of those MTV music videos to listen to the music.
We don't need any video to learn rhythm either. All we need is to listen to the beat and the sound of the rhythm. If we want to learn music notation, then we must learn to read rhythms.
In this case, we need audiovisual as opposed to just audio.
The online training video would display whole, quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes as well as rests on a staff.

The staff could be a white board or a power point type presentation. How convenient that the written information does not need to make use of paper.
2.
Melody Learning ear training, pitch training and interval training with computer audiovisual aids is more effective than the old studio teaching methods. It may not be fair to assume that with the older teaching method there is no computer to access, but for sake of argument let's say it is so. Even today, not every teacher that shows up to your home will be ready to teach with a laptop. With an online training video lesson, all the advantages of a laptop are right there.

Interval learning software is available to help learn the distance between notes.

Tuning apps are available at the whim of a quick download.

Have we forgotten the simplest method? The method of the teacher playing the notes on the instrument and the student playing it back. On the other hand, just the student reading the notes from their own music stand or on the computer does not lose anything in the translation to video.

3. Harmony The main objection to harmony learning with video would be that the chords come out distorted.
If that were true, then why didn't years of recording technology in the 60's present us with distorted chords? (That is, when distortion was not intended.
) We are at such a stage in personal audio technology, that we can even jam over the Internet with the proper compensating software. This area needs more exploration. I look forward to the day where concerts are held and nobody needs to leave their living rooms; including the musicians as well as the audience.

As it stands, learning harmonies and chord structure online is just as easy (or difficult) as it is to learn offline. There are altogether the advantages of staying in the comfort of your home without having an outsider come in.
There is that slight convenience of not having to clean and organize the house two minutes before the teacher arrives. "Oops, I forgot my music book.
" That excuse is certainly passé at this point.
Even if the dog ate it, there is enough music to download off the Internet for a live online video lesson.

if it's a pre-recorded video lesson, the music will obviously be presented to the student.
If this happens at a home/studio lesson, the teacher must dig up something on the spot, which detracts from the weekly planning.
There must be some advantages to home/studio offline teaching.
The only thing that comes to mind is tone and dynamics.
These are for the advanced student and we are leaving the idea of learning fundamentals.

Learning tone is something that requires a disciplined ear and will not carry well even with the best online guitar lessons.

If there is any other advantage of home lessons over online training please leave a comment. Let everybody know why there is any need to take offline lessons any more when learning the fundamentals of music.

Signs of Teenage Depression

Teenagers are known for their moodiness. It is a time in one's life when chores are more than just a burden, schoolwork is drudgery and the wrong word from a friend can seem like the end of the world.

It's no wonder then that for parents, teachers and friends, signs of depression in teenagers can often be difficult to see.

In fact, it is estimated that only 20 percent of teenagers suffering from depression ever get the help they need.
However, clinical depression should never be confused with moodiness.

Depression is a debilitating condition that can lead towards alcohol and drug abuse, violence and suicide.
These are the warning signs of clinical depression.
The more of these signs that describe someone you know, (teenager or adult), the more important it is that they talk to their doctor about depression.

sadness or hopelessness irritability, or outbursts of anger frequent crying lack of motivation withdrawal from friends or family change in eating habits, loss of appetite change in sleeping habits, sleeplessness or oversleeping loss of interest in once-favorite activities feelings of guilt feelings of worthlessness fatigue, or lack of energy difficulties in concentration preoccupied with thoughts of death suicidal thoughtsAbove all, please understand that talk of suicide, or suicidal thoughts should never be dismissed without talking to your doctor.
If you suspect a teen you know is suffering from depression, talk to them about it, or have them talk to an adult they can trust, preferably their family doctor.
There are a wide variety of treatment options available for depression today, and there is no reason for anyone to suffer with depression alone.

How I Became an Instructional Designer

About a decade ago, I started out as an instructional designer by sheer accident. I had some experience of writing ad copy and promotional material and was called in for an interview by a top e-learning company.
I sat for an exam that- I must confess-I thoroughly enjoyed.
They showed me pictures and asked me to write 100-word passages on each picture, asked me to write dialogues, and made me do some interesting reasoning exercises.
If this was a test, then the job must be absolute fun, I said to myself.
About a month after that, I got the job. I was super exited.

I thought I knew what I was getting into. It seemed so similar to advertising.
I heard similar marketing jargon all around me: target audience, content, ARCS, ADDIE, and so on.

I was eager to start on a project and somewhat overconfident to not want to waste any time learning more than what I already knew.
And here I was with my very first project. A course for an online MBA class and the subject was strategic marketing.

Ah! I am familiar with this subject, I thought to myself.

Secretly, from the back door or my subconscious mind, anxiety had begun to creep in. I was hearing unfamiliar jargon and some wired acronyms - project lifecycle, mpp, SME, and many others that are now a part of my regular life so wouldn't remember. As I started my way into the project lifecycle, I enjoyed being creative, being the representative of the target audience, and advised the SME on how to make the content more learner centric, without really being formally aware of theory and the principles of instructional design. It all began with common sense and I enjoyed noticing how my common sense mellowed well with the thoughts of Bloom, Merrill, Gagne, Kirkpatrick, and others. But guess what, it was not just these theories and principle that I learned.
I also learned about some critical points that seemed bigger and more important than all the instructional theories in the world-the hanging hyphen, the em dash (-), the en dash (-), the double and the missing spaces, the serial commas, and some subjectivity behind the rules of grammar. The hyphens and the dashes ruined my life.
Well, almost! I almost forgot about all principles of instructional design and just focused on getting those dashes right.
Ran across cubicles to know that if it were a title, should it be "Air-conditioned Room" or "Air-Conditioned Room" (notice the -c and the -C of conditioned?). The responses were split into a clear half. I was offended. How is it that they don't know? Later I came to know that the correct and incorrect is decided on the basis of a client's preference of how they deem the correct form to be.
And then came a day, when someone handed me a new project that required me to learn Java Script.
Heavens fell over me.
Two weeks down the line, I was comfortably writing html codes and publishing my own courses, capturing simulations on Captivate, using some robust LMS, creating virtual lectures, and even playing with flash to create some interesting on-screen interactions. It was at this point, that I almost felt like a professional, who needs to upgrade her core skills and keep learning new technologies that can help deliver instruction better. Today, I am an instructional Designer.
This is not my job.
This is my profession.

Pros and Cons of Being a Game Designer

There are a lot of people who have an interest in becoming a game designer but are unsure whether or not to make it a career.
The main purpose of this article is to provide information which will help you make this choice.

Many different variables should be taken into account and below is a list with some of the pros and cons of being a game designer. Pros Designing games is fun. Creating them as a whole is very enjoyable as is working on all the different game mechanics and coming up with new and interesting concepts. Many times as a player, you might think how something in that game could be changed for the better.
When it's your job, you not only get to think of these ideas but also put them into practice.
You also get rewarded for creativity and innovation. Creating games in itself can feel very rewarding and when there's a positive reaction to your game, it is even better.

Contrary to many professions where things are predetermined, game designers are constantly seeking things that are new and improving things that already exist.

Though the salary may not be as high as other professions, there are a lot of professionals in this industry who do earn pretty well even though the game design market has not existed as long as other industries. Several industry-related sources indicate that the salaries for this profession range from $50,000 to $80,000 annually and averaging $57,500.
Some companies also give bonuses and shares of the profits. There is a variety of niche markets which are opening up. For example, you might choose to design games for PC, console, mobile or web.
Then again, your choice might be based on the game genre you like best, such as: FPS, RTS, MMORPG, puzzle, sport, etc.

With this variety, it is possible for game designers to choose the area which they like the most and learn to create games in those areas.
Cons Long hours.

Not only does practicing your skills for creating games take a long while, working in designing the games also takes up a lot of time. The game designing business is also well known for employees having to work exhaustively during crunch periods, which can often span several months. You may have to work on games that your not very interested in. Due to the incredible growth of this industry, and the immense number of games being created, the probability of this happening isn't very high. Even if this does happen, it can be turned into something positive if it later results in some sort of promotion, an increase in pay or equips you with new skills. With the growth of the game design industry, the competition is also increasing.

While there are new jobs opening constantly, the competition is becoming more fierce. Of course, this just means you need to be well prepared. As with any profession, there are both pros and cons to being a game designer.
Anyone that has a passion for games, has a keen sense of problem solving and a good dose of creativity, will find a job in game design a fun and rewarding option in a fast growing industry that has a promising future.

Kids In The Kitchen: Tips For A Fun And Safe Experience

Most children love to cook when given the opportunity, and most parents will love the learning opportunity it provides! Cooking involves reading, math skills, science, knowledge of good nutrition, and much more. Here are some tips for providing a fun and safe experience for your child in the kitchen.

Getting Started Cooks of all ages should always start any food preparation with a good wash of the hands.
Hands should be washed frequently after touching pungent ingredients, and especially after handling raw meat and eggs.

Spills and messes are definitely a big part of cooking with kids, and a child-size apron can help to keep clothes clean.
If an apron isn't available, an old shirt will do.
It's best to avoid oversized or loose clothing, as saggy sleeves or clothes could easily catch fire or get caught in mixer beaters or other equipment.

Spills are also more likely when counters and tables are too high for children to work at comfortably.

Provide a step stool or have them work at a small table to reduce the messiness of your project. Taste testing is a fun part of the cooking process, and teaches kids to be creative, but when it comes to meats, poultry or other products like raw eggs, remind your child to wait until everything is cooked thoroughly before taste-testing.

Using the Kitchen Safely Of course, you should always monitor your child while he or she is cooking in the kitchen-a burn or cut will quickly put an end to your fun session.
Keep in mind that children have short attention spans, so be sure to give them quick, simple jobs, and give instructions one at a time. Don't be afraid to repeat directions as often as needed, as they can be easily forgotten in the excitement of preparing a yummy dish.
Even if you have special kids' cooking tools for your child, it's important that you always watch them while they use knives, food processors, blenders, or other sharp kitchen tools and gadgets.
If your child is old enough to use a knife, make sure he or she points the blade away from the body and keeps her or his fingers away from the blade while cutting.
When using the oven or stove, always use potholders or oven mitts (no dish towels) when handling hot pots, pans, or quality bakeware sets.

Keep pot and pan handles turned toward the back of the stove so they won't be knocked over by accident, and, of course, only use microwave-safe cookware in the. Make Learning Fun Cooking presents an opportunity for learning in a fun and engaging setting. Kids can utilize math skills through counting and measuring ingredients, reading recipes helps with comprehension, and observing food changing during cooking can provide a science lesson.
Cooking dishes from other parts of the world is a great way to learn about different cultures, and most importantly, children gain self esteem when they learn to cook for themselves.
Take the time to cook with your child today, and open up a whole new world of culinary fun!

7 Tips to Increase Your Child's Happiness

These simple tips will help any child feel happier.
But they are especially useful for a child who often feels sad or is experiencing other kinds of difficulties.

You might not be able to do them all at once. Pick two or three and make them habitual.

Then try adding more.

1.

Make a list of your child's best qualities.

Is he helpful, generous, creative, a good brother to his siblings? Does she excel in art, music, reading or computer skills? After you've made the list (writing it down helps), tell your child one or two good things about himself every day, without being too obvious about it of course.
Just sprinkle them casually into conversation.
2.
Invite your child to play a board game or do a puzzle.
In these days of the "electronic hearth", reading aloud, playing board games and doing jigsaw puzzles around a real hearth have all but disappeared from our children's lives.

Your child would love to play checkers, cards, Monopoly, Stratego, or another board game with you.
If time is limited, play a short game or keep an ongoing game or puzzle on a table in the family room. 3.
Post your child's latest drawing or painting on the refrigerator, or frame it and put it on the wall or mantel.

4.

Praise your child for something she has done exceptionally well.
Or better yet, post a "certificate of praise" on the refrigerator. You can have fun on your computer generating a customized "certificate of praise" for your child. Excellence in academics is important of course; but so often we parents focus exclusively on our children's doing well at school and we forget about other qualities that we want to foster in them: like being caring and generous to others, being a loyal friend, feeling compassion for the less fortunate, and loving the world of nature. Don't forget that social intelligence (the art of making and keeping friends) is at least as important as "book learning.

" Be sure your praise is targeted and realistic, or your child won't believe that she deserves the compliment.

5.

Invite your child to help you bake cookies or prepare a meal.

Even though it might mean more work for mom to have her child "help" in the kitchen, it's worth the boost to your child's self esteem. 6. Nurture your relationship with your spouse or partner.

Take time to go out on a date at least once a month.
Date nights are important so that you enjoy life together with your spouse.
But dates are equally important because they give you time to get things off your chest and resolve disagreements before small things build up and become a wall.
And it's critically important to work out wrinkles in your relationship outside of the hearing of your child.

There is nothing as important to your child's sense of well-being as knowing his parents are happy together.
7.

Model happiness for your child.
This is the most important tip of all. Every morning, tell your child one thing you are looking forward to in your day.
Tell him that you are planning to take a walk at lunch time or start reading a book you've had on your list or that you are going out to lunch with a co-worker.
In the evening, mention one thing that you enjoyed about your day.
Don't forget: this is about you and your own happiness. Say something like: "I had a good day today.

I enjoyed working in the garden, I went to an art class, or I had a great time jogging with the dog." Of course you will have to plan enjoyable activities for yourself, so that you are telling your child the truth.

If you honestly do all of these things for three weeks (starting out slowly and then adding more), you will be amazed at the results in your child.

Polynomials - The Simplest Form of the Algebraic Expressions

Polynomials are very very important to understand to be successful in algebra. As I promised in my previous articles, that we are going to explore algebra by taking two paths. Polynomials are the second path which goes to algebra destination as the first path, equations, we are pursuing already.

The important note to remember is that the algebraic relations or algebraic expressions give rise to both the polynomials and equations.
Also, the word phrases from the daily life give birth to algebraic relations.
I can say that the polynomials are a type of algebraic relations.
Polynomials involve the whole number powers of variables.

They don't have negative or fractional powers.

In other words, it can be said that polynomials are the simplest form of the algebraic expressions.
A polynomial can have one to infinite number of terms. Also the polynomials can be classified according to the number of terms they contain.
We will discuss the classification of the polynomials in my coming articles in more detail.

The objective of this article is to introduce the grade eight or higher students with polynomials.

As the polynomials are the simplest form of the algebraic expressions, they are written without the use of equal sign. When an equal sign is included with a polynomial, then it is called a polynomial equation.
Following are some examples of polynomials; 1.

3c 2. 4x + 2y 3. 2m - n - 9 4.
8 5. 5a+ 3ab - 9 Notice, in example 4, number "8" is a polynomial which means all the numbers can be called as polynomials. These numbers have the variable with power zero. In all other examples, the polynomials have variables with exponent one. But remember that, variables can have any whole number as their exponents (power).
Don't be surprised by the polynomials having variables with powers such as, 3, 5, 7 or even higher.
If there is a variable at the bottom (at denominator) in an algebraic relation, that algebraic relation is not a polynomial.
For example; 5xy - 3/x - 5 Notice that, 3 has x as its denominator, therefore above relation is not a polynomial.
Keep in mind that, the variable at the denominator in a relation or one with a negative power are the same. If you see a negative power of a variable, decimal or fractional power of a variable in an algebraic relation, never ever consider that relation as a polynomial.
Polynomials are very important as they are used in calculus, in science, economics and in many other areas.
So, stay tuned as more explanations about the polynomial and algebra are on their way.

Origin and Uses of Computers

The computer is one of the most wonderful products of modern science.
It plays a significant role in modern life.

A computer works with fantastic speed, precision and accuracy.
It can make thousands of calculations per second. It is an electronic calculating machine that can count, write and solve highly complex problems. Computers have made in roads into every human activity.
It is a friend of students, businessmen, industrialists, scientists and others.

The word computer comes from the word compute meaning to calculate. We find computers in offices, business houses, laboratories and on spaceships.

We do not need to wait in the queue for a long time today.
Tickets are issued by computers.

Computers have made life easier and more perfect. The neolithic structure Stonehenge near Salisbury in England is considered to be the oldest computer.

It is supposed to have been built about 4000 years ago.

It consists of a circular structure of stones supposed to have been temple dedicated to the sun god.
It was used to predict the astronomical phenomena like the orbits of various planets. John Napier (1552 - 1617) developed logarithm with which multiplication and division become easier.
Slide rule was an extension of logarithm.

It was in fact a scientist by name Charles Babbage invented the modern computer in the nineteenth century. In the early stages computers used vacuum tubes.

A few years later Dr.

Howard Alken of Harward University designed the automatic sequence controlled calculator - the first mechanical computer.
There are two models of computers namely Analogue and Digital - the former measures and the latter calculators. Today digital computers are more popular.

Digit in Latin means finger.
In earlier days fingers were used to count.

Computers are used to perform very sophisticated tasks.
They are used to control the direction of rockets and missiles.
Such computers were used in the second world war. A lot of researches have been done in order to improve upon the existing ones. A computer programme is a set of coded instructions for the computer to obey.

The writing of these programmes is called computer programming.
A computer, with all its sophistication and extraordinary ability to perform tasks cannot replace man.

It cannot think by itself. It can only perform tasks that we programme into it.
A computer can control the movement pattern of the electrons and a desired pictures is produced on the screen as a picture on a T.V.

screen is produced by bombarding electrons.
Today computers are used to produce accurate scale drawing in a short time.
They can produce drawings, maps, et.
Computers are also used in satellites to forecast weather.

A computer in a hospital can give signals to doctors about a patient's condition. Many people have the fear that computers create unemployment.
It is wrong.

In fact, computers create jobs. In this growing world we want our tasks to be done quickly and accurately.

New technology needs the manufacture of new machines, data feeding equipments and electronic instruments, the production of which requires more and more men. If employment opportunity is reduced in one area, it is increased in many others.
Therefore we do not need to be unduly worried about the introduction of computers.

They create job opportunities to people in many other areas.
In fact, computers are going to do for us most of our jobs in the 21st century.
