Slowing Down - The Greatest Secret to Helping Your Child or Teen Get Organized for Academic Success

In our very busy usually over scheduled world sometimes it feels like we are mice running faster and faster on that wheel to nowhere. If you could share one great secret to lifelong success with your child or teen how much time and money would you be willing to spend on that? The problem: Children and teens today are bombarded with ideas, demands, advertising, temptations, peer pressure, homework and so much more.

There is an enormous amount of input for even a very healthy, wise and self-disciplined adult.

What usually happens: Students often underachieve leaving them with feelings of inadequacy and impotence.
There are usually so many distractions that they hardly notice but are left with a vague feeling that "something is not quite right.

" Much time is spent pursuing things they want or think they want but little or no time is spent on a serious personal development plan.

Why: Frequently parents are running just as fast or faster just trying to keep up with their own frantic lives which can sometimes become a blur of endless activity and movement in which most things are never really done.
The secret: SCHEDULE time to stop and smell the roses. What? No it's not a joke.

To be certain of some peace and quiet, and space to relax and rejuvenate, most of us have to specifically carve out some scheduled quiet time.

This can be as important to children and teens as it is to adults.
If children are helped to set aside some quiet time each day they wind down and truly refresh for the next day or next set of activities.
How to do it: Be sure to schedule in some quiet reflective time each day. Then above all hold that as the most sacred part of your day for it is I that space you will truly find your greatness.

What a wonderful gift to share with your child and help them develop that lifelong habit of keeping some sacred space and finding that inner peace that comes from going within to find your source of everything.
